About
Hi, I’m Hannah
I’ve taught Feldenkrais for 15 years since completing my practitioner training in Amsterdam in 2008. I’m passionate about helping people feel as free as possible in their bodies.
I’ve helped many people to rehabilitate from injury and to continue and enhance the activities they’re passionate about, whether sport, dance or simply improving the quality of daily movement. I specialise in working with children with special needs. The more we move well, the better the quality of our life. I practise in Chichester, West Sussex and online with Zoom classes and individual coaching. I relocated here from a thriving London practice in 2019 after having my son, Joshua. My background is in contemporary dance and I guest lecture at Trinity Laban, London College of Music and several UK universities. Please continue reading if you’d like to know more about me and my practice.
Thanks for visiting my site and if you’d like to get in touch I’d love to hear from you.
My background
I’ve danced since childhood and first encountered Feldenkrais during my professional dance training at Trinity Laban in 2002. However, it wasn’t until I was injured and forced to slow down that I started to fully appreciate its depth and experience how small changes in movement patterning could feed into big changes in how I felt being myself. Not only did Feldenkrais help me recover then give me much greater freedom of movement but I learnt how to feel grounded and centered, it opened my creativity and intuition and enhanced how I connected with others.
As a practitioner now, I love watching these things unfold in those I work with – seeing their confidence in their bodies and capabilities grow. I’ve seen the huge difference a better sense of balance makes to an older person’s sense of independence and hope for the future and had the pleasure of watching people of all ages discover they’re capable of more than they knew. Its a great privilege to be part of this process.
I’ve been strongly drawn to working with children with special needs in my practice. It’s a special thing to communicate and build deep trust with the kids who come for sessions with me. Alongside training in Feldenkrais, I taught creative dance in SEN schools and worked as a play worker for a couple of fantastic London charities.
Studying the Jeremy Krauss Approach for children with special needs in Germany was an amazing opportunity which added depth to my work with adults too. Understanding developmental movement in children gave me greater clarity about the patterns of potential that exist in all of us which thrive when given the opportunity to do so.
Since having my son, I realised the huge need for Feldenkrais for postnatal mothers to help reconnect with their body and gently reset. I set up an additional class focused specifically for postnatal mums and work 1:1 guiding mums through their recovery process.
I’m a certified member of the UK Feldenkrais Guild, abiding by its Code of Ethics and hold a current CRB check.
